Subject: Larkin Kelsey
For over 20 years I have been searching for
Larkin Kelsey. We were close friends as young adults. Unfortunately, we
lost contact and I would dearly love to know that he is ok. We grew up
in southern OC.
I knew his step father very well and was saddened by the rift between
them. I am hoping this is the Larkin Kelsey I am looking for. The man I
know is well over 6' slender build with sandy hair. I am going by an
old description, I realize. However, if this is the person you have
written about, I would appreciate it if you would pass on that I miss
our friendship and would love to hear from him again. By the way tell
him Jose is ADIOS!! It took me too many years and I should have taken
his advice years ago!
My cell phone number is: 636--***-****.
Oh yeah let him know I no longer live in Ca.
Thank You.

Hello, Martha! Just today, I discovered your kind message in my guestbook
re. Larkin. Sorry I didn't see it sooner, I rarely get posts there.
Feel free to post any further email via this address I'm using.
I guess you've been to my book The Larkin Chronicles, or some other section, to learn about how Larkin came into my life, and has been such a great inspiration ever since?
I telephoned you, left a message. Figured this e-mail would be good, too...though because of my RSI
(both hands/both arms) I can't type too often, so I prefer the
telephone to converse. My LD service is very cheap (2 cents/min.), so I
don't mind at all paying for the calls. My number is 415-***-****.
I'm hoping your contact will bring much joy to Larkin, and help mend
the damage done to our friendship, by jealous souls lurking in the
wings. If you've read a few chapters of The Larkin Chronicles, you'll
know what I mean.
Yes, he's over 6 feet (6/4 to be exact), but you failed to mention he's
stupendously HANDSOME, too! He's got an incredible spirit about him,
quite a remarkable character. His hair is now dark brown with red
highlights...though he does change his haircut often, and sometimes
dyes those lovely locks. He IS beginning to show some gray hairs in the
temples, these days.
Meanwhile, I'll leave a printout of your email to me, with Larkin where
he works. That's this coming Monday. Can't type any more...call me!
I'll try reaching you, by calling each day for a while. That should
work, I hope!
Sincerely,
Zeke Krahlin

My only worry was that he might be upset by you
delivering my message, from what I read on your site . But, as I have
been searching for so many years. And, so far you have been the only
person I have been able to locate, with knowledge of his whereabouts, I
will hope he understands and is not angry with either one of us. The
last thing I would want to do is cause friction in his life.
I know his life was not easy growing up and it
sounds like he has finally found some happiness. I would just like to
reconnect with him. Just let him know I accept him for who he is. If he
would like to contact me he can do so with the info I left with you. If
he can not afford to call me, I understand. I am currently in serious
financial straits myself. But, snail mail works too. I don't know that
I left my address with you so here it is: Some St. Something, Mo. 63***.
Again, Thank you for your time and effort on my behalf.

You may not have read the later pieces, else you'd need not be so
worried. I will leave a printout for him, at the tacqueria where he
works. I've left numerous other writings over these past 8
months...none of which he has ever complained, or expressed in any way
(even subtle) that I'm being a pest.
Perhaps an important reason for my posting the Larkin Chronicles to the
web, was that it will lead to reuniting him with an old friend
(yourself)!
As far as I can tell, he's very glad I show up every week. He knows that I would no longer show up, if he makes that request.
{{The last thing I would want to do is cause friction in his life.}}
I feel very good about this. I'm sure he'll be very happy to receive your kind words over so many years.
{{I know his life was not easy growing up and it sounds like he has finally found some happiness.}}
Yes, he plays the Game of Life very well, a most inspiring fellow.
{{I would just like to reconnect with him. Just

I'll print out this letter too, so he will know.
{{If he can not afford to call me, I understand. I am currently in serious financial straits myself.}}
And I may wind up homeless unless a miracle happens. And it will.
{{But, snail mail works too.}}
My LD service is CHEAP, 2 cents/min. So if you'd ever like to speak
with me over the phone, let me pay the cost. I need to use up a lot of
minutes!
{{ Again, Thank you for your time and effort on my behalf. }}
Martha, it is a great honor. And to think my gift as psychic detective has resulted in this marvelous outcome. Wow!
I lived in Missouri for 7 years, first as a student at Univ. of Mo in
Columbia, then as a dropout "hippie". You might enjoy reading this blog
entry re. my alma mater:
Thank You Margaret & William
I will post back to you on Wednesday, after I deliver him your important letters.
Many wishes and blessings for you and loved ones, that your financial
straits may soon turn into a glorious waterfall of good fortune and
happiness.

Subject: The deed, 'tis done!
And I'm sure it was a very GOOD deed. Printed out your two messages to
me, one had your phone number, the other your address. They were both
excellent missives, which I'm sure will warm Larkin's lion heart.
I folded your two letters into an envelope with "Larkin Kelsey"
imprinted on the outside, and taped it to a Mad Magazine (something
which has been a standing joke between us). If you don't know yet why
this magazine is important in our friendship, you can find out here:
A Larkin Reverie
You can skip down to the relevant passage, by searching for "mad mag".
The envelope and magazine were left covered by a newspaper, that Larkin
can bus my table when I depart, and take his gift. I've been leaving
him my writings like this for many months now (though not every time I
go there, which is twice/week now). He has never requested me to cease,
let alone to not show up. He has always been extremely good to me, in
nonverbal ways.
But I never look back, to see what he does with my writings, though I
doubt he tosses them out. So let's now keep our fingers crossed, that
he may read your letters, and be so happy and inspired to contact you!
May I ask you, Martha (as I am MOST curious): how did you come to
discover my Larkin tales? Search engine? Newsgroup postings? Whatever?
Blessings!

I found your site by googling Larkin's name. I don't know why I never thought of it before!
Like I said I have been looking for him for
years. Last time I saw him was almost 21 years ago. I was pregnant with
my first child and newly married.
I will never forget how he and I met. As I have never forgotten him. I have missed his friendship, we had a lot of fun together.
Thank you for delivering my message

Well, when I was in 10Th grade, he was visiting
some friends that lived a few condos down from me. You are right he is
a very handsome man. I came out of my house and saw him sitting on the
lawn next door. I was very attracted to him, so I decided to get out my
bike and ride past him. He noticed me so I put my bike away and got out
my homework to do on my lawn. He came over and we started talking.
We dated on and off for the next few years. Then,
he was having too much trouble at home so he moved to San Diego.
Needless to say we stopped dating at that point.
Of course, we would have eventually stopped
dating. Because, he had to be true to himself, which is what he is
doing now. But, that has never really diminished how I care for him. I
only want his happiness. And, I have finely found mine as well.
I am really hoping I hear from him. I have told
my boyfriend about finely finding him and he is hoping I hear from him
as well. He knows how much friendships mean to me.
Again, thank you.

One of the great things that impresses me about Larkin, is he possesses
an intense level of compassion for all sorts of people...he is not
particularly caught up in his good looks. You are right, you have a
best friend in him.
If he does NOT contact you, it'll be for one of two possible reasons:
1) I was mistaken, he does toss out anything I leave him, w/o first reading my material.
2) He is in a bizarre living situation, where contacting real friends would only lead to mishap.
But, I could be wrong about both possibilities. I'd bet on him contacting you, with happy results.

Subject: Here's a pic of Larkin
Martha, I was reviewing our correspondence, and decided to use Google
as you did, to see how the results show up. Well the final link on result page 2, includes a photo of him:
Renegades Autumn Classic San Diego
It's a San Diego softball team...and the very first image shows Larkin,
3rd from left. I'm guessing it was 2003? Grapevine has it that he
arrived in San Fran about eight years ago. Of course, that might not be
accurate.
This picture will verify he's the same Larkin you seek...I hope. What a
surprise, huh? I never attempted to take a photo of him, out of
respect. And I did search for his name on the web, like you...mainly to
find some info about him via the SF Pool Association.
Never came across ANY photo of the dude. Now, in my curiosity to
duplicate your own Google search, here he is, bright as the noontime
sun!
Can you say "kismet"?

Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him. (John 11:30)
